I've been reading recently (and noticing myself) that there have been quite a lot of issues with opening large .pdf files in browsers. i haven't done any cross browser testing but i am using IE 8 and Adobe Reader 8.01 and i have found problems opening files of 250k and above, which will affect some of the content on this site.
I had a little search and found the Foxit PDF reader which i installed and have since been able to view the larger files i previously couldn't. Compared to Adobe Reader its a relatively small download and seems to open files a lot quicker ; i've added a reference to the software tools list below.. again there is NO support offered and the use of is totally at the user (your) discretion and the circle are NOT responsible for any issues the software may cause - its simply advise!

Design

The main consideration is to develop a clean uncluttered site free from flashing gizmos or jumping/scrolling text, where hopefully the content will be interesting enough to hold the visitors attention. The original objective was to design a site suitable for a fairly low specification of internet connection speed, computer and browser compatibility. However, the general entry level computer specifications and connection speeds have increased dramatically and are not really an issue anymore while an attempt to design the site without the use of client side scripting and session variables seriously affected the presentation and a good user experience.
